"HURRY UP, PARNIFEROUS!!" Sunny called urgently. "The Groundling Maintainers want to see you!"
Professor Parniferous Pirkle thought for a moment. Then his eyes lit up and he smiled.
"Oh! I hope that they found one!!" He hurried out of the pod hut and to the city edge.
Parniferous had been looking for a firestone for some time and had asked the Groundling Potentate for help. The stone had magical properties that would serve their quest well. In the darkness of night, it casts an orange, lava-like glow to light the way. It could start fires although always remained cool to the touch.
Sure enough, Potentate Groundling Niblet had laid a smooth, yellowed stone before Sunny and the Professor.
"A gift from the Groundlings for the many things that you have done for Hedgerow Hollow", Niblet squeaked.
"And it will help Hedgerow Hollow even more if it does the trick." Parniferous picked up the stone and tipped his hat to the Potentate. "I thank you, Sir!!"
